A Small Story About Love“ will be a book for children aged 8+ and
the project is about financing the illustrations and a bilingual version in german and english.

The STORY:
Each year, there ist the „Festival oft the Donkey-Ear“ on the island of Le Sél: with grey , stubborn animals, prickly balloons, professors of emotion and lots and of books and tales. The book is about reading, donkeys, dog-ears, donkey-ears and of course very much about love. Sandro does not really like Sanja. She is much to clever and most of all, she is a girl. But the prickly balloon likes Sanja all the more. Unfortunately, he cannot talk and tell her…
This book combines three artistic fields:

1. The text (Peter Bosch) combines realistic with imaginative elements, everything is familiar and yet a bit different, out of place.
2. The illustrations (Alexandra Bolzer) evolve from the story, complement the story elaborately and take you by surprise with a diversity of different styles and materials.
3. The typography (Nele Focke) has its autonomous role, makes references to the illustrations and the text as well and so creates an additional visual and aesthetic layer.

Why should you support this project?
Everybody who can still remember how inspiring childrens’ books can be and how much pedagogical value good children’s literature has, should support this project.

What happens with the funds after successful financing?
We need the money in order to produce high quality illustrations and typography to appropriately interpret and complement the story, which is an enormous task ahead.
AND: if we do have enough money left we will translate the book from the german version in bilingual version (german / english) too

I am Alexandra Bolzer, visual artist from Vienna / Austria.

Since 2004 I have been working on different ARTprojects that were almost financed by myself.
TODAY, I would like to change that, because next year (2015) I would like to work more intensively on this speacial conceptual serie:

crowdfunding : ARTproject – lotta continua * the battle goes on

This project is about former generations and their hopes about their future.

I got the idea 2008 while looking on photographs showing my daddies school mates in the year 1962. Unburdened schoolboys a view years before “1968” – the year of big changes in society :

And I asked myself which ideas and dreams this generation might have had, and how these changes in 1968 are still alive today. On the other hand, I also asked myself which achievements maybe got lost on the way or changed into the opposite now.

The schoolboys themselves looked quite similar to schoolboys nowadays- but a lot of things happend since then.

In conceptual artworks I will bring these items into a context:

Photographs from the PAST and TODAY, portraits of people , collages from magazines will be painted, collaged and reordered to a conceptual serie of artworks.
Different periods of time ( World war I and II, ex DDR, UDSSR, 1968 etc.) and different questions will be critically analysed.
At the end of the year I would like to produce a book with all the paintings and findings .
And last but not least: I will try to find an international gallery to exhibit the works!

Trend Crowdfunding – oder auch “Krautfunding”

Crowdfunding ist mittlerweile in aller Munde und Medien. Diese Form der Vorfinanzierung von beispielsweise Musik- und Filmprojekten wird immer beliebter bei Künstlern wie auch den sogenannten Supportern. Die größte Crowdfunding-Community im deutschsprachigen Raum, über die solche Projekte abgewickelt werden, ist Startnext. Sehr viel Aufmerksamkeit erhielt vor einiger Zeit die Vorfinanzierung des Kinofilms „Stromberg“ über Startnext. Es sollten 1 Mio. Euro gesammelt werden, um den Film zu finanzieren. In diesem Fall lief die Finanzierung über eine Mischung aus Crowdfunding (bei dem der Supporter sogenannte Dankeschöns für seine Spende bekommt) und Crowdinvesting (bei dem der Supporter im Erfolgsfall auch eine Rendite erhält). Mehr dazu in einem FAZ-Artikel.

Auch wir haben ein paar Projekte auf Startnext beobachtet: So hatte Max Giesinger vor kurzem die gewünschten 10.000 Euro zur Finanzierung seines ersten Albums „Laufen Lernen“ innerhalb eines Tages beisammen und erzielte am Ende der Finanzierungsphase sogar eine Summe von 23.755 Euro…
